I am calling to voice my strong opposition to the proposed reclassification of Social Workers as non-professional. Social workers are highly trained, degree-holding professionals who provide essential services across schools, healthcare systems, behavioral health, child welfare, community programs, and crisis response.

This reclassification is inaccurate, harmful, and undermines the safety and wellbeing of the communities we serve. It would also damage workforce stability, limit professional mobility, and reduce the pipeline of qualified practitioners entering the field.

I am requesting that the Department of Education reject this proposal and affirm Social Work as a professional field requiring specialized education, supervised training, and expertise grounded in evidence-based practice.
